Purple-Sprouting Mirror

This unique handmade mirror is an excellent example of Bertram’s ‘zero waste woodworking‘ ethos:  the (naturally occuring) vivid, purpleheart timber that forms the sides of this mirror were components originally made for this set of Purpleheart Dining Chairs. The shape wasn’t quite right however, and they had to be remade to a different size meaning these pieces of shaped timber needed a new purpose in life…

This, obviously, is a one-off piece. Purpleheart and sycamore combine to strong effect for this mirror that has two hanging options and will enliven most hallways. It is sure to prompt comment from all but the most world-weary of guests.

A fine purpleheart stringing surrounds the mirror’s frame, which projects from the wall on its finely-shaped purple protuberances.

Option of being mounted vertically or horizontally. Supplied with fixings and hooks ready to be hung.

Finished with an oil wax.
